Wow, What a Year!

Thank you for being such a loyal subscriber and allowing Ebaata Skincare into your heart and your home.  As we prepare to bring this year to a close, we thought it would be a great time to share some exciting updates!  As our brand has grown, our community has grown with it.  I’m honored to have earned your trust and would like to take a moment to introduce (or re-introduce) myself.

I am Phumelele, owner and founder of Ebaata Skincare.  I used to struggle with dry and itchy skin during the wintertime and blend together different products to get the mixture “just right” – not too thick but not too thin. I was a fashion designer in NYC at the time, but started seriously experimenting with a Shea butter formulation using ingredients intended to soothe, repair, and nourish my skin.

As a fashion designer, I had extensive knowledge of the ingredients that go into fast fashion and their negative impacts on the skin, so it was easy for me to apply my experience of researching and sourcing natural fiber fabrics to developing an all-organic skincare product.

Imagine my surprise when my mother told me just last year that my Grandmother and Great Grandmother were also soap makers in Swaziland. As my Grandmother moved to South Africa, she didn’t pass down the skill to my mother and her siblings. So the art of soap making skipped a generation, and I somehow picked it up; imagine that, I had no clue! Now I know more than ever that I am where I am supposed to be.  ⁃Phumelele

In October, I had the esteemed privilege of being honored at Berkeley College’s Inaugural Women’s Empowerment Awards where I was recognized for my role as a speaker and advocate during Women’s Entrepreneurship Week (WEW).

For WEW, I shared career advice, along with my personal experiences along my journey to success, I helped students develop confidence, and an awareness of how to make the most of opportunities and persevere in the face of challenges.

I am a proud participant and award recipient because WEW has also been instrumental in elevating the voices of women on critical issues impacting gender equity in business, entrepreneurship, higher education, media and government.

Finally, I’d like to mention a couple of updates.  First, I’m happy to announce that Ebaata Skincare now offers Shop Pay which allows you to either pay in full at checkout or split your purchase into 4 equal cool is that?  Shop Pay is an easy way to stretch your budget and pay over time.  Also, set a reminder to check your inbox on Monday, 11/22 for a special sneak peek of our BFCM sale!

Lastly, Ebaata Skincare wants to help you reap the maximum benefits from our products and we now offer “How To” tutorials.  Last month’s coffee scrub was a hit and we created a video just for you.  Follow us on social media for more details. We’d love to get your feedback and hear how you use our products!
